Photos : Nomadic Museum in Odaiba and Tsukushima, Tokyo
26 June 2007
Sunday. Last day of the Tokyo leg of the Ashes and Snow exhibition. The lines are long, very long, and it's raining. The show is off-limits. Still, one can walk around Shigeru Ban's odd building, the Nomadic Museum made for the exhibition, hosting it from continent to continent. Made of paper and containers, it feels at home on Odaiba, the artificial island in the bay of Tokyo.
A few steps away, there's Tsukushima and its alleys, well hidden but not well enough: in a decade or two, it will all be gone, but an old splinter in the foundations of some big concrete condo skyscraper.
